April GAMES!

After waiting three whole months, it's finally here: this Saturday, from 3-9pm, GAMES! will feature more Car Wars excitement. There will still be the usual board games, card games, foosball, air hockey and ping pong, but the highlight (for me, at least) will be a race of epic proportions as up to sixteen (16) players battle tooth and nail (or flamethrower and grenade launcher) to be the first one across the finish line or the last one alive, whichever comes first. I'm super excited and I think we'll have a lot of interest again this time.

As mentioned previously, we've added Castle Merchants to the Prize Vault, plus there's still some other great items in there. All you have to do is show up and give us your name (and stick around until the drawing); you could go home with a completely free, brand new game. Car Wars and a free prize, what more could you possibly ask for?

Make plans now to join us at GAMES! this Saturday and don't miss your chance to play Car Wars, because you might not get another opportunity until July. I also just got word that Heather is going to be making some delicious goodies for the kitchen again, so that should sweeten the pot too. So, whether you grab a friend or bring your family, you gotta come to GAMES! this Saturday. See ya there!

March GAMES!

As usual, GAMES! was a lot of fun and was well-attended (36 people). There were even some new games played that I hadn't seen at GAMES! before. Some of the stuff played was Settlers Of Catan, Trivial Pursuit, Axis & Allies, Robo Rally, Colosseum, Steam, and Checkers.

Chrissy won the door prize this month and took home the just-added Ticket To Ride. We'll be adding Castle Merchants in its place next month.

Looking ahead, next month's event will include our quarterly Car Wars match, which you won't want to miss. As mentioned previously, it will be a division 10 race-style setup and I'm confident that it'll be a lot of fun. Mark it on your calendar now, April 9th, 3-9pm, and tell all of your friends.

Daylight Saving Time Begins

...but not until after GAMES! this Saturday, from 3-9pm. So, if you accidentally set your clock ahead Friday night instead of Saturday night, you may end up getting drafted to help set up (having arrived at 2pm instead of 3pm). Either way, once it really is 3pm, the fun starts including: board games, card games, air hockey, foosball, ping pong and even pizza and homemade desserts.

We're adding another Days Of Wonder game to the Prize Vault to replace the one taken last month. It's a game that many have played and several have requested, but that we've never had in the Vault before: Ticket To Ride, the original base game, the one with the United States map. It's fun and it can be yours, free.

Looking ahead to April, I've already got the car sheets and map ready to go for our quarterly Car Wars match, and I'm getting rather excited. In fact, I'm already thinking forward to the July(?) and November(?) events because I'd like to add something new each time we play. In April, as mentioned previously, the new thing will be the race-style match mode, but future matches could add jumps and new modes (capture-the-flag?), plus a new flavor of opponent (dreadnaught?) and even an eye in the sky, someday.

Having said all that, if the only game you ever want to play is Car Wars, skip this month and join us on April 9th. However, if you think there's even a possibility that anything else might be fun, then you should drop by this Saturday, March 12th, from 3-9pm and try one of the many other game options that exist. Hope to see you there!
