Once again, we had an excellent time at GAMES! this month. At 45 participants (with 7 first-timers), this was our second highest attendance ever (only trailing last month's record by a few). Games played include Battlestar Galactica, Ticket To Ride, Scattergories, Pandemic, Sequence For Kids, Alhambra, Blokus, and Civilization. Debbie took some photos for me again this month, so I'll get them edited and posted later.
Our door prize went to Dave this month. He picked Pirate's Cove (and promised to bring it back next month so we can play). We've got some other prizes in queue for the Prize Vault, so we'll pick something good to add next month as a replacement.
Our next GAMES! is only four weeks away, on March 12th from 3-9pm. Be sure to put the April 9th event on your calendar too, because that'll be the next opportunity for some futuristic autodueling mayhem with Car Wars. Thanks for playing and we'll see ya next month!
It's still cold outside, so we're gonna keep it warm inside playing games at GAMES! this Saturday from 3-9pm. There won't be any Car Wars this month [probably*], but we'll still have plenty of board games, card games, ping pong, foosball, etc. Plus the monthly drawing for a free game and yummy pizza and homemade desserts.
As mentioned, we've got an electronic Trivial Pursuit game to replace the DVD edition of Trivial Pursuit taken last time, plus the extra stuff that was donated for the January event. We had a terrific turnout at the January event, but even if we top it this month your odds are still better to win a door prize at GAMES! than even a small amount of cash in the lottery (and it doesn't cost you anything to play at GAMES!), so be sure to show up and drop your name in; you might win!
So, if you're cold on these frigid days, grab a friend and come to GAMES! this Saturday. Between the food, fun and friendship you'll feel toasty warm and right at home. See ya there!
*if you really really REALLY want to play Car Wars this month, leave a convincing comment below (on the GAMES! website) and I'll see what I can do
We had an absolute blast at GAMES! this month, and I'm not just talking about the explosions during Car Wars. With a new record of 49 participants (including 7 first-timers), our room was jam-packed and bustling with gaming excitement. Since I was tied up running Car Wars all day, I didn't get a good look at all of the games that got played, but Debbie took pictures of For Sale, Dixit, Starfarers of Catan, The Gardens of the Alhambra, Trivial Pursuit, Ticket To Ride, Pandemic, Kingsburg, Phase 10, and of course Car Wars. I'll get the best photos edited and posted this week sometime.
Rick won the door prize drawing and went home with a copy of Trivial Pursuit: Pop Culture 2 DVD Edition. We'll replace it with an electronic Trivial Pursuit game next month.
As mentioned, this was the day for our quarterly Car Wars game, which ended up being three consecutive death matches with a total of ten fatalities and the three victors, though in one game the victor was burning to death as he won. If it looked like fun but you didn't get a chance to play, make sure to keep April 9th free, since that'll be the next time I setup the Car Wars arena. The plan for that event is more of a race setup, where the goal is more than just to survive, you also have to complete your laps before the other players. I think I'll probably build the cars as Division 10, in case you want to create your own car before the event (you'll need a copy of the rules, though). Between now and then, tell all of your friends and we can have a crazy awesome race in April.
Next month's event is scheduled for the second Saturday again, February 12, and will run 3-9pm as usual. We hope you enjoyed gaming with us today and we hope you can join us again next month. See ya then!
