May GAMES! Results

In spite of the gorgeous weather, this month we had our third highest attendance ever: 36, including several who came for their first time. Unfortunately, our wonderful Kitchen Coordinator went home sick, but I was able to cover the kitchen and make sure everybody got yummy pizza and homemade brownies. There was a wide assortment of games played, but I'm not going to list them so you'll have to look through the photos to see what they were.

After attending (and presumably entering) sixteen times, Steve Zieser finally won the door prize and grabbed Colosseum. The empty slot in the Prize Vault will be filled with the game donated by BattleZone Games, Small World. BattleZone will also be partnering with us for future Prize Vault contents too, so be sure to note any requests when you enter to win each month.

The next GAMES! event is Saturday, June 12th from 3-9pm and we hope to see you there. Don't forget to tell your friends about this event too, because it's not an exclusive club, it's open to everyone and the more the merrier.

GAMES! in May

The second Saturday has come and gone, but this month our event is on the third Saturday, so it's not too late to join in the fun. Come check it out this Saturday, May 15th, from 3-9pm.

As promised after last month's event, there's another copy of Cranium to go into the Prize Vault this month. There's other gems in there too, if Cranium isn't your thing. You can't win unless you enter, though, and you can't enter unless you show up, so at least stop by and enter to win a free game (must be present to win also).

Unless the third Saturday is a nonstarter for you (even if the second wouldn't have been, like the anonymous commenter on the last post), make plans to stop by and enjoy some good, clean gaming. Whether it's board games, card games or dexterity games (including ping pong—I even bought some real paddles to crank up the competition), you're bound to have fun at GAMES! this Saturday.

April GAMES! Report

Before I tell you about today's event, let me share something that happened today before the event. Last month I mentioned that Matt from BattleZone Games had stopped by to check things out. Well, what I didn't tell you last month was that BattleZone wanted to get involved in what we're doing, so they had offered to donate a game for the Prize Vault. This morning we picked up a copy of Small World to give away. It'll go into the Prize Vault after the next "gamer" game gets taken.

Alright, now onto today's report. We had a smaller crowd (16 people) today (perhaps due to the nice weather) but still had a great time. We played Zendo, Union Pacific, Robo Rally, Pandemic and Ninja Burger (and possibly others). I also learned, by experience, that both Dave and Tom are really good at ping pong, so I'm looking forward to playing them again at future events; I may even buy some "good" paddles for us to play with.

First-timer Nate won the door prize and selected the popular game Cranium. There's another copy of the latest edition of Cranium to go into the Prize Vault for next time.

Our next event will be on the third Saturday of the month (rather than the second), due to Mother's Day and the fact that there are five Saturdays in May. Get your game face on and join us Saturday, May 15th from 3-9pm for GAMES! (and let me know if you'd like a good game of ping pong, because I'm sure something could be arranged).

footnote: photo credits for the last two shots from this month go to Renee (which means I'm actually in a photo, for a change).
