It's coming again, this Saturday from 3-9pm. We'll have the usual kitchen staff serving up tasty food and good company, plus the special treat of our quarterly Car Wars match.
We've got another copy of Castle Merchants to add to the prize vault. We'll be drawing another winner, just like every month, and giving away a completely free game from the prize vault.
As far as Car Wars goes, we'll start our first game right away and we'll keep playing as long as there's interest. I'm still planning a team-based first-kill death match, possibly math-balanced if we have an odd number of players. I'll have several pre-designed cars ready to go or you're welcome (encouraged?) to purchase the rulebook and build your own $10,000 car, motorcycle or truck. If we need to do math-balancing, I've also got $5k, $15k, $20k and $40k cars designed. No matter how it plays out, we'll have fun, hopefully enough fun to last another three months until the next Car Wars event.
Tell all your friends about GAMES! and plan to join us this Saturday. If you can't make it this week, go ahead and put November 12th on your calendar so you can plan around next month's event. See ya there!
We had 19 people at GAMES! on Saturday, including two guys brand new to our event. Nobody seemed to mind that I forgot to setup the ping pong table or air hockey, on the contrary I actually got one comment in support of not having those options. We'll consider it, but they're not hard to setup and give the non-gaming kids something to do when parents bring them along.
Rick won the door prize drawing and grabbed the copy of 7 Wonders that we just added, though he didn't keep it long because he gave it away to his brother who had come along to play. There's more games ready to hit the vault next month, but I won't spoil the surprise now.
Speaking of next month, I'll be doing another Car Wars match at the October event, using car sheets leftover from the July event. If there's enough interest, we'll do it team first-kill deathmatch style again. We'll still have the usual stuff too, so make sure to join us October 8th, from 3-9pm. I can't wait!
The temperatures are shifting but that doesn't mean we're shifting gears, we'll still be holding GAMES! this Saturday from 3-9pm. I'll be staffing the kitchen since Debbie will be at the church's Ladies' Retreat, but we'll be serving up the usual delicacies including a homemade dessert of some sort.
We're adding a donated (but unopened) copy of 7 Wonders to the prize vault, which has proven to be an oft-played game at our events in recent months.
I honestly have no idea whether this Saturday's event conflicts with any particular team's football schedule, but even if it does you are more than welcome to eschew the base entertainment of watching a team of brutes struggle to move an object in an arbitrary direction and instead engage in the cerebral challenges of attack and defend afforded by a wide variety of board games, not to mention the interaction and relationship building. You owe it to yourself to join us for GAMES! this Saturday (and you can't DVR an interactive strategy game). We look forward to seeing you there!
