This month we had 25 people show up to play games and had lots of fun. I saw at least a dozen different games played, including Zendo, Small World, Garbage, Dominion, San Juan, Kingsburg, Formula D and several others. Unfortunately, I forgot to pack my camera, so there aren't any fresh photos to enjoy.
Kevin won the door prize and grabbed Age Of Discovery. Hopefully he'll report back on how it is, since we hadn't ever played it before.
Next month we'll be back on the second Saturday, even though it is Valentine's Day weekend. Maybe you'll just have to plan on bringing your sweetie along to play games. Put it on your calendar now, just in case: Saturday, February 13th from 3-9pm. We'll see you there!
It's taken a week longer than usual to get here (due to being scheduled for the third Saturday, rather than the second), but GAMES! is finally upon us and will be a blast, as always. This Saturday, January 16th, from 3-9pm, we'll have the usual food and fun, so plan on joining us.
This month we added Settlers of Catan - Travel Ed. to the Prize Vault to replace the Catan game taken last month.
There's a good chance we'll have a game of Car Wars going, if there is enough interest, plus lots of other fun board games and card games, so bring your friends and be there!
As always, GAMES! was fun and we had good participation: 27 people total. With the arrival of several folks between the headcount for the pizza order and when the pizza got there, we actually ended up running out of Papa John's, but acquired some extra pies from Casey's to make sure everybody had enough to eat. Several games were played that spanned the spectrum from kids games (Chutes & Ladders, The Wheels on the Bus, etc.) to dexterity games (PitchCar) and strategy board games (Colosseum, Quicksand, etc.).
Brandi won the door prize and picked up Catan: Traders & Barbarians. We'll replace it with another good strategy game before the January event.
Speaking of the January event, it will be held on the third Saturday of the month, since there are five Saturdays in January, which will help space it out a bit from the rush of the holidays and give everybody a chance to settle into 2010 before coming back to play some games. If you have a 2010 calendar already, go ahead and put it on there: Saturday, January 16th, 2010 from 3-9pm. Until then, have a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
