We had a smaller crowd this month (about 20 people), but we certainly still had a good time. Look for the pictures to be up soon, hopefully in the next couple of days.
Nancy S won the door prize for the night, she selected San Juan. We hope to add another game to the Prize Vault before the next event.
We are considering having GAMES! every other month instead of every month. What do you think? Good idea? Bad idea? Would you be more likely to come? Less likely? Disappointed? Let us know what you think by leaving a comment. We value your input. I think we'll have an event in March no matter what we decide, and we'll certainly let you know here what we decide.
Next event: Saturday, March 8 from 3-9 PM.
Shanna,
I missed last Saturday’s GAMES! :-(I think it was the first time I missed one). From my experience going to other gaming get-togethers (CRG-Con, Iowa City game days) there is a large variation in the number of people who show up from one event to the next. I’m not at all surprised that one month 35 people showed up and the next month only 20 did. I would not take a one month drop as a sign that attendance is declining.
Thoughts on holding GAMES! Every other month: For me personally, I am going to show up at GAMES! unless I have a schedule conflict, whether you hold it once a month or every other month. Other people may be more limited in how many hours they can devote to gaming and may show up more often if you held it less frequently. I have no idea how many people are in each situation. Also important is how you and Bob and your helpers feel about it. Do you still look forward to holding each GAMES! event, or is it becoming more of a chore?
Thanx for the effort you and Bob and your helpers give so that we can have fun gaming,
Off Topic: Hope you and Bob come to the Rockwell Collins Gamers Club New Year Kick Off Party tomorrow evening.
Thank you for your input. I haven't attended that many gaming events yet, but I've also observed that attendance can vary widely from one event to the next. We had discussed going to every other month before this last event, so we didn't come up with that idea as a result of the smaller numbers. However, we did wonder if people would be more likely to come if the events were less frequent. For myself, though, I have fun no matter how many people are present.
I appreciate your feedback on how often you would come, what factors we should consider, etc. That is exactly the type of input we're looking for. Thanks for being the first to respond!
We won't be able to make it tomorrow night, but we do hope to get to one of their events sometime soon. One of these days I need to register on their website.
Keep the feedback coming!
FYI -- Photos from last Saturday's event are now posted. You can start with one at the bottom of the page and click through them individually or you can see them all in thumbnail form on this page.
